I have been silent too long. I can no longer keep my voice silenced while this current administration runs rampant destroying everything that made this a great country. The following is a list of our inalienable rights, as written in the Declaration of Independence by Thomas Jefferson, and the First Amendment rights, from our Constitution.
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with inherent and inalienable rights; that among these, are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness; that to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed; that whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles, and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness." --Declaration of Independence as originally written by Thomas Jefferson, 1776. I remember reciting those words as a young girl, and of being so proud to be an American. To be a part of the greatest nation on earth, knowing that Democracy in all it's glory is absolutely the best form of government, and the only really true form of fair government. But now I hang my head in shame, as I watch our current administration turn what was great into what is ghastly. Preaching Democracy while practicing fascism... that is our current administration. We must not be silent as these rights are being stripped before our very eyes. Who are we as Americans, if we allow our country to fall to such disgrace under such dictators as George W. Bush, and Dick Cheney. Speak out now, and let Washington and Fox News know that we will not stand for this destruction of our first amendment rights.
